CELPIP Test Centres

There are 118 CELPIP test centres in Canada, spread across 12 provinces and territories and 58 cities. Ontario has by far the most, followed by British Columbia and Alberta.

No. CELPIP test centres do not process registrations at all — every booking goes through the official CELPIP website. The centre is only the venue.

CELPIP-General tests listening, reading, writing and speaking and takes about three hours; it is accepted for permanent residence, visas, professional designation and employment. CELPIP-General LS tests listening and speaking only, takes about an hour, and is accepted for Canadian citizenship.

Any official centre delivers the same computer-based test and the same result, so choose on date availability and travel. In big cities the venues are often within a few kilometres of each other, and one will usually have a seat when another is sold out.

Results are normally posted to your online account within four to five business days of the sitting — considerably faster than the French exams.

Neither is officially easier, but CELPIP is written in Canadian English and set in everyday Canadian situations, is entirely computer-delivered, and records speaking answers into a microphone rather than in a face-to-face interview. Candidates who find scripted interviews stressful often prefer it; those who prefer writing by hand often do not.
