The Four Parts, and How Mocko Trains Each One
The same parts, timing and number of questions or tasks as the real exam. The exam screens are in Dutch, as on exam day.
Lezen
35 questions · 6 texts- The exam
- Five texts to read in full and one long text to search, question by question. Three or four options per question.
- Where points go
- Time runs out on the long texts.
- On Mocko
- A full paper on the clock, with the warning 15 minutes before the end, and every answer explained afterwards.
Luisteren
38 or 39 questions- The exam
- Conversations and spoken texts, then a video text. You get 25 seconds to read each question, then its fragment plays once.
- Where points go
- There is no replay: miss it and it is gone.
- On Mocko
- The 25 seconds and the single play, as in the exam. The video text is audio with a picture. The review shows the transcript.
Schrijven
12 tasks- The exam
- Finish and insert sentences, write a message or fill in a form, and two short texts with 5 to 7 points. Typed, with no spell checker.
- Where points go
- Missing content points and fixed sentence structures.
- On Mocko
- No spell checker either. Each task is rated on the aspects of the official rating model, with corrections and an improved answer.
Spreken
16 tasks- The exam
- Eight short answers of 20 seconds and eight longer ones of 30 seconds, recorded on a headset.
- Where points go
- A beep starts and ends your time, and there is no going back.
- On Mocko
- The same beeps and timing. Points per task, with feedback on content, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and pace.

Take a free quick testHow the 500 Scale Decides Each Part
Your raw points are converted to a scale score. 500 or more passes the part. The raw score you need changes a little with every exam.
| Part | Points needed in 2025 | Pass |
|---|---|---|
| Lezen | 24 of 35 | 500+ |
| Luisteren | 26 of 39 | 500+ |
| Schrijven | 25 of 47 | 500+ |
| Spreken | 75 of 128 | 500+ |
- There is no total score: a strong Spreken cannot make up for a weak Lezen.
- You keep the parts you pass and resit only the part you failed.
- Schrijven and Spreken are rated per task on fixed aspects, such as content, vocabulary and grammar.
