Every category-based and Canadian Experience Class draw since 2024, one dot per round. The gap between the green CEC band at the top and the indigo French band below it is the story of modern Express Entry: which pool you compete in matters more than a few extra points. PNP rounds are charted separately below because the 600-point nomination bonus puts them on a different scale.

CEC held at 507 to 547Canadian Experience Class cutoffs stayed in a tight band all window, the most stable line on the chart.
French fell to 379French-language proficiency rounds ran 97 points below CEC at last count, the biggest advantage in the system.
Physicians hit 169The February 2026 physicians round produced the lowest cutoff in years, a signal of how aggressive the new 2026 categories are.

Invitations issued per month

247,898 invitations to apply were issued over the window. Volume is not spread evenly: IRCC front-loads big French and CEC rounds, and months around program changes can spike past twenty thousand invitations.

Where the pool stands right now

231,533 candidates are sitting in the Express Entry pool. Only 18,644 of them score above 500, while the latest CEC cutoff was 517. That squeeze is exactly why category draws, provincial nominations and French bonuses have become the realistic routes to an invitation for everyone else.

How Express Entry changed between 2024 and 2026

2024: the end of general draws

The last all-program draw ran on April 23, 2024 with a CRS cutoff of 529, and none has been held since. Through late 2024 IRCC leaned on Provincial Nominee and Canadian Experience Class rounds while category-based selection took over, and the STEM and agriculture categories quietly disappeared after their final rounds in early 2024.

2025: the category era in full force

2025 was the first full year with no general draws at all: 58 rounds issued 113,998 invitations, almost all through CEC, PNP and category rounds. French-language proficiency was the standout, with cutoffs dipping to 379 while CEC candidates needed 507 or more. March 2025 also removed the extra CRS points for arranged employment, reshuffling scores across the whole pool.

2026: new categories and a steady levels plan

On February 18, 2026 IRCC refreshed the category lineup under its International Talent Attraction Strategy: physicians, researchers, senior managers, transport occupations and skilled military recruits joined French, healthcare and trades, each now requiring a full year of qualifying experience. The first physicians round cut off at 169, the lowest score in years. Behind it all, the 2026 to 2028 Immigration Levels Plan holds admissions at 380,000 per year, pushes the economic share toward 64 percent, and signals that arranged-employment points will return with anti-fraud safeguards.

Takeaway: cutoff trends now depend on which lane you can enter, not on one national number. If you qualify for a category, especially French, your effective target score can be more than a hundred points lower than the CEC line.

The French advantage, in numbers

French draws issued 89,100 invitations over two years, more than any other targeted category, at cutoffs up to 97 points below CEC. Reaching NCLC 7 in all four French abilities also adds a direct CRS bonus on top of your language points.

Express Entry draw FAQ

What was the CRS cutoff in the latest Express Entry draw?

The most recent draw was on July 20, 2026: a Provincial Nominee Program round that invited 511 candidates with a CRS cutoff of 744. This page refreshes automatically from IRCC data after every round.

How often does IRCC hold Express Entry draws?

Over the last two years IRCC has held 122 draws, an average of about 5 per month. Provincial Nominee Program rounds usually run every two weeks, with Canadian Experience Class and category-based rounds slotted between them. There is no fixed public calendar.

What is the lowest CRS score that received an invitation?

The lowest cutoff of the last two years was 169, in the Physicians with Canadian Work Experience, 2026-Version 1 draw on February 19, 2026. Among the broad categories, French-language proficiency draws have gone as low as 379, far below the Canadian Experience Class range of 507 to 547.

Are there still general (all-program) Express Entry draws?

No. The last general draw open to all programs was on April 23, 2024, with a CRS cutoff of 529. Since then every round has targeted a specific program (CEC or PNP) or a category such as French-language proficiency, healthcare, trades or education.

What CRS score do I need in 2026?

It depends entirely on which stream can invite you. Recent Canadian Experience Class rounds cut off around 517, French-language proficiency rounds around 420, and healthcare, trades and education rounds have mostly landed in the 430s to 510s. PNP rounds look extreme (667 and up) only because a nomination adds 600 points to your score.

Why are Provincial Nominee Program cutoffs so high?

Every candidate in a PNP round already holds a provincial nomination, which adds exactly 600 CRS points. A cutoff of 744 therefore corresponds to a base score of about 144 before the nomination. PNP cutoffs are not comparable with other rounds.

What are the Express Entry categories for 2026?

IRCC announced the 2026 lineup on February 18, 2026: French-language proficiency, healthcare and social services, trades, and new categories for physicians, researchers, senior managers, transport occupations and certain skilled military recruits, all requiring at least one year of qualifying work experience. Physicians and senior managers have already had their first draws; researchers, transport and military rounds are still to come.

How many invitations will IRCC issue in 2026?

IRCC has issued 97,612 invitations so far in 2026, after 113,998 in all of 2025. The 2026 to 2028 Immigration Levels Plan holds permanent resident admissions at 380,000 per year with the economic share rising to about 64 percent, so overall invitation volumes are expected to stay in a similar range.

What is a category-based Express Entry draw?

Since mid-2023, IRCC can invite candidates who qualify for a specific category (for example French speakers or healthcare workers) rather than everyone in the pool. Inside a category, candidates are still ranked and cut off by CRS score, which is why category cutoffs are usually much lower than program-wide ones.

Do French speakers really get lower cutoffs?

Yes, and it is the largest gap in the system. The latest French-language proficiency cutoff was 420, while the latest Canadian Experience Class cutoff was 517, a difference of 97 points. French draws also issued 89,100 invitations over the window, more than any other targeted category.

What is the fastest way to raise my CRS score?

For most candidates, language scores. Moving from CLB 7 to CLB 9 in your first language adds direct points plus large skill-transferability bonuses, and reaching NCLC 7 in French adds a bonus of 25 to 50 points on top and unlocks the lowest-cutoff category in the system.

Where does this data come from?

Every number on this page comes from the official IRCC rounds of invitations dataset published on canada.ca. The page re-syncs automatically, so new draws appear within a day of being announced.
