How to humanize AI text

  1. 1

    Paste your text

Drop in an essay, email, cover letter, blog post or exam answer, up to about 1,000 words.

  2. 2

    Pick a tone

Natural keeps the voice that fits the text. Casual loosens it up. Formal suits reports and exam writing.

  3. 3

    Get a human rewrite

The humanizer marks every AI pattern it finds, rewrites those sentences, and checks that no fact was added or lost.

Before and after

AI text tends to be longer than it needs to be. The humanizer cuts the padding and keeps the point.

Humanized

Learning French can open up new career prospects or help you pass the TEF Canada exam. To succeed, you need consistent practice, thorough preparation, and the right mindset.

The 26 AI writing patterns it removes

The rules come from Wikipedia's Signs of AI writing guide, the checklist its editors use to spot machine-written articles, as packaged in the open-source Humanizer project.

Staging instead of stating

Lines that announce importance without adding a fact: "it's not just X, it's Y", "let that sink in", "here's the thing", "at its core".

  • "Not X but Y" contrasts
  • One-line closers
  • Sayings that sound deep
  • Staged run-ups
  • Arguing with no one

Rhythm by rule

Everything comes in threes, every clause hangs off a dash, and every claim carries two hedges. People vary their sentences; models repeat a template.

  • Forced lists of three
  • Repeated sentence openings
  • Dashes everywhere
  • Stacked qualifiers
  • Hyphenated pairs
  • Missing subjects

Inflation

Words like pivotal, crucial, delve, tapestry and testament, plus "plays a key role" and "the future looks bright". The fact stays, the dressing goes.

  • Overused AI words
  • Inflated significance
  • Vague connections
  • Shallow "-ing" add-ons
  • Sales language
  • Borrowed authority
  • "Serves as" instead of "is"

Formatting by rule

Bold labels on every bullet, Title Case Headings, emojis as section markers and curly quotes where the rest of the text uses straight ones.

  • Bold as decoration
  • Decorative headings
  • Curly quotes

Chat leftovers

"Great question!", "I hope this helps", "as of my last update" and other wrappers that were written for a chat window, not for your reader.

  • Chatbot leftovers
  • Knowledge-limit hedges
  • Heading repeated in the text
  • Writing about the document
  • Re-explaining the obvious

Frequently asked questions

What does an AI humanizer do?

It rewrites text produced by ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or another AI model so it reads like a person wrote it. This one finds the habits that give AI writing away, such as empty contrasts, lists of three, inflated words and chatbot sign-offs, and rewrites those sentences while keeping every fact, name and number from your original.

Is the AI humanizer free?

Yes. You can humanize up to 1,000 words at a time with no account and no sign-up. There is a fair-use limit per visitor each hour so the tool stays fast for everyone.

Why is my humanized text shorter than the original?

AI text is padded. Openers like "let's dive in", closers like "the future looks bright" and phrases like "plays a pivotal role" add words without adding information, so the humanizer removes them. Your facts and arguments stay; the filler goes.

Does it work in French and other languages?

Yes. Paste French, Spanish or any other language and the rewrite comes back in the same language. The patterns it looks for, like "ce n'est pas seulement X, c'est Y", show up in every language AI writes in.

Will the result pass an AI detector?

The tool is built to make text read naturally to people, which is what teachers, examiners, clients and readers care about. AI detectors disagree with each other and change often, so no rewriter can promise a particular detector score.

What do the tones do?

Natural matches the kind of text you paste: an essay stays an essay, a casual post stays casual. Casual loosens the voice with contractions and plain words. Formal keeps it suitable for reports, cover letters and exam answers.

Is my text stored?

No. Mocko sends your text to the AI model to produce the rewrite and does not keep a copy. It is never published or attached to an account. As with any online tool, leave out passwords and other private details.

Can I use it for my TEF, TCF or CELPIP writing practice?

You can use it to see how a stiff, template-sounding answer could read more naturally. On exam day you write on your own, so the better long-term fix is practising with timed writing tasks and getting feedback on your own drafts, which is what Mocko is built for.
